The American Express Blue Business Plus card is a great business card for non-category spend. If you’re transferring from Chase after you’ve run out of points I like to think of the Blue Business Plus as a better Freedom Unlimited alternative because it’s 2x instead of 1.5x for everything.

The American Express Blue Business Plus card is my go to card for spend that doesn’t fall under categories covered by the Platinum, Green, or Gold card.
Who is this card for?
This card is great for someone transitioning into the American Express ecosystem. Ideally you would want to pair this with some or all of the other cards such as the Platinum, Gold, and/or Green card.
The American Express Platinum, Gold, and Green cards cover a lot of spend categories, but there are some that are not covered. I do shop at my local grocery store where it makes sense to use my Gold card, however, I prefer shopping in bulk at stores like Sam’s Club, Costco, and other wholesalers not covered by the other MR earning cards. The American Express Blue Business Plus is a great catch-all card for non-category spend.

The Blue Business Plus comes with car rental insurance. To get free rental damage insurance, simply pay for your rental with your Blue Business Plus card. Taking this step further, you could opt to pay for “premium car rental insurance” if you plan to get a super luxury car and want to be extra sure that you are covered.
Shopping Insurance
Often times when I buy expensive electronics, I buy an extended warranty, but with this card you get one just for using it. Additionally, if something is accidentally damaged, lost, or stolen, you may also be eligible for reimbursement! The best way to use these benefits is calling the number on the back of your card or chatting with an American Express representative on the site.
Summary
The American Express Blue Business Plus isn’t amazing for it’s high multipliers or special benefits it offers. It is a great addition to a collection of other MR earning cards to make sure you always earn at least 2 MR points per dollar spent.
