Value
Depending on who you talk to, each Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) point might have a different value.
When redeemed for cash, each UR point is worth 1 cent per point.
When redeemed for travel on the Chase Travel portal (Expedia) with a Chase Sapphire Preferred / Ink Business Preferred, each UR point is worth 1.25 cents per point.
When redeemed for travel on the Chase Travel portal (Expedia) with a Chase Sapphire Reserve, each UR point is worth 1.5 cents per point.
When transferred to a transfer partner the value can vary. The most value is often obtained when redeeming for first/business class flights or luxury hotels.
I tend to get 2+ cents per point because I tend to transfer to airlines, however, I recognize that not all people will be willing to go through the trouble of finding ways to transfer to partners. I value UR points at 1.75 cents per point. However, keep in mind it is not impossible to get more value.
Do UR Points expire?
As long as you maintain a UR points earning card in good standing, your points do not expire.

The Chase Travel Portal is ran through Expedia, so anything you can purchase on Expedia can be purchased using the Chase Travel portal.

Cost in UR points is 33,986 points with Sapphire Reserve, or 40,784 points with Sapphire Preferred/Ink Business Preferred.
This 1.5 cents per point with the Sapphire Reserve, and 1.25 cents per point with Sapphire Preferred/Ink Business Preferred. This is the standard redemption rate when using the Chase Travel portal.

Cost in points is 140,000 miles
$6,628.80 / 140,000 = 4.7 cents per point. Singapore Airlines first class suites have an insane amount of space, and happens to be one of my favorite first class products.
