1. San Francisco International Airport

One of the busiest airports in the United States, San Francisco International Airport does not feel as large as you might think. All of the terminals, rental car locations, and subway to San Francisco are all connected via an AirTrain. In addition to large concourses and several lounges, the airport has amenities such as a dedicated yoga room and a small version of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

2. LaGuardia Airport

LaGuardia Airport is one of three main airports serving the New York City metropolitan area. Once compared to a “third-world country,” LaGuardia Airport recently underwent a $8 billion reconstruction. The airport now has world-class amenities, iconic public art, state of the art security, improved transportation access, and additional airside taxiways to reduce delays.

3. John F. Kennedy International Airport

Also known as JFK, this airport has the most international traffic of any airport in the United States. JFK has modern terminals, while also preserving the past, including the newly opened TWA Hotel, which used to be the main terminal for TWA. JFK has the AirTrain, which connects all of the terminals, along with connections to the New York City subway and Long Island Rail Road.

4. Miami International Airport

The main airport for southeast Florida, Miami International Airport has many flights to South America. The airport has a monorail to connect the terminals, along with the Metrorail, which connects to downtown Miami.

5. Chicago O’Hare International Airport

One of the busiest airports by passenger traffic in the world, Chicago O’Hare International Airport is about to undergo an $8.5 billion renovation to improve facilities, technology, and connection times. The airport has several famous landmarks, including a 40 foot tall dinosaur skeleton and the light tunnel connecting several terminals.

1. Singapore Changi Airport

Singapore Changi Airport recently upgraded their facilities in late 2019, with the centerpiece being the Jewel complex. Jewel features the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, gardens, attractions, a hotel, hundreds of retail and dining outlets, and early baggage check-in to explore the complex. Changi Airport is consistently ranked as one of the top airports in the world by Skytrax. The airport also has rail connections to downtown Singapore.

2. Hamad International Airport (Doha)

Hamad International Airport was built in 2014 to replace Doha’s old airport and handle increased passenger counts. It is consistently ranked as one of the best airports by Skytrax. To prepare for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the airport is undergoing an expansion, and will include a tropical garden and water feature similar to Singapore Changi Airport’s Jewel, along with a nearly 100,000 square foot business lounge.

3. Hong Kong International Airport

Hong Kong International Airport was built in 1998 to replace Hong Kong’s old airport and handle increased passenger counts. It is one of the busiest airports in the world by international traffic. It is consistently ranked as one of the best airports by Skytrax. The airport has rail connections to downtown Hong Kong.

4. Dubai International Airport

Dubai International Airport is the busiest airport in the world by international traffic. The airport has plenty of lounges and shopping to keep you occupied until your flight. The airport is connected to downtown Dubai via the Dubai Metro.

5. London Heathrow International Airport

The largest of London’s six airports, London Heathrow International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world by international traffic. The airport is expected to expand their facilities in the upcoming years due to increased passengers. Heathrow is connected to downtown London via the London Underground and the Heathrow Express railway.
