Travel Tips:

  • Prepare for altitude sickness. These states have some of the highest average elevations in United States, and there are several things you can do to prepare for the elevation. These include spending a day or two at an intermediate elevation to adjust, drinking plenty of water, avoiding alcohol, and taking it easy on physical activities the first day or two

  • Most of these states have attractions that are popular in different times of the year. For example, in Utah, skiing is popular from December to April, while the National Parks are more visited during the summer months

  • Buy a National Park Pass. The pass costs $80 for a year of unlimited access to national parks. Meanwhile, individual parks charge up to $35 to enter a park, meaning as little as 3 visits to a national park can save you money
